Hopefully you have already had a chance to check out the new beaches in Playa del Carmen – or, let’s hope you are on your way to see them for yourself!
It’s really remarkable how much sand there is on Playa’s main beach and in the resort area.
Remember the rocks in front of Luna Encantada? They are completely covered and the beach is walkable at least a couple of miles to the north and well past Playacar Phase I!
There is plenty of space for beach paddle ball, soccer, volleyball and good ole relaxing on a beach chair!
My favorite spots are still between 6th and 10th – from Luna Encantada to Corto Maltes the beach is wide open without boats blocking access to the blue Caribbean!
I have definitely found the best way to enjoy it is with a Wicky’s Martini at the beach club at El FAro (“lighthouse”). Of course, my bias is showing in the the husband is part owner – nonetheless, I do have a very knowledgeable palate and have eaten my share of food up and down and around Playa. Wicky’s has the best burger going and I’ve yet to have a dish I didn’t love. Try it out….
